Bone Broth Pasta – My Fussy Eater

If your child likes to eat plain pasta then try this simple hack of cooking it in bone broth. It adds protein, collagen and amino acids to make their favourite food a little healthier.

If you’ve got a child with a very simple diet it can sometimes be a worry if they are getting enough of the right nutrients.

I love finding little hacks to boost the nutritional content of their favourite foods without altering those foods so as to cause a meal time meltdown.

This Bone Broth Pasta is a great trick to use for kids who like to eat their pasta plain.

You just need two ingredients; pasta and bone broth.

There are a lot of bone broths on the market. I like this one as it’s very naturally made and isn’t overly diluted. You can also make your own at home if you like.

How To Make Bone Broth Pasta

To make Bone Broth Pasta simply add macaroni or any other pasta shape to a large saucepan with the cold bone broth.

It will take a little longer to cook the pasta than usual as you are starting with cold broth rather than boiling water. The macaroni I used usually cooks in 6-8 minutes but I cooked it for 10 minutes.

If you are using a larger pasta shape it may take a little longer.

Cook until the pasta is soft and all the broth has been absorbed.

At this point the pasta will look like regular pasta that has been cooked in water and then drained.

What Does Bone Broth Pasta Taste Like

You may be worried that the bone broth will alter the taste of the pasta and your child won’t like it.

Personally I don’t think it tastes any different than if you cook pasta in regular stock.

I’ve tried it on my kids and they certainly didn’t know that the macaroni was cooked any different.

How To Serve Bone Broth Pasta

You can serve Bone Broth Pasta completely plain if that’s the way your child usually likes their pasta.

You can also add butter or cheese or any other additions that they enjoy.

Can I Add Veggies To Bone Broth Pasta

Yes absolutely! You could add some chopped frozen veggies for last 4-5 minutes of cooking or add in some already cooked vegetables at the end.
